IEPScore! is an educational guidance platform designed to help parents understand the special education process. Nothing on this platform — including document analyses, AI chat responses, meeting preparation tools, compliance reviews, or any other feature — constitutes legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is formed by your use of this service.
The guidance provided is intended to educate and empower parents as they navigate the IEP process. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney, certified special education advocate, medical professional, or other qualified expert. For questions about your legal rights or your child's specific situation, we strongly encourage you to consult a qualified professional.
1. Our Purpose
IEPScore! was created to help parents and guardians of children with disabilities understand the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), navigate the IEP process, and advocate more effectively for their children. We provide educational tools — including document analysis, goal tracking, meeting preparation, and AI-assisted guidance — all designed to inform and support parents, not to provide legal counsel.
2. Your Documents Are Secure
We take the security and privacy of your child's educational records extremely seriously. Here is how we protect your documents:
Private, Encrypted Storage
All documents you upload — including IEPs, evaluation reports, progress reports, and correspondence — are stored in a private, encrypted file storage system. Documents are never publicly accessible and can only be retrieved by you when you are logged in to your account.
Access-Controlled by Design
Your documents are tied directly to your account. No other user, parent, or third party can view or access your uploaded files. Only you and, where applicable, administrators responsible for maintaining the platform, can access your records.
Secure Signed URLs
When a document needs to be opened or analyzed, the system generates a short-lived, signed download URL that expires within minutes. This prevents unauthorized sharing or long-term exposure of sensitive files.
FERPA Awareness
We understand that your child's educational records are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). While IEPScore! is a parent-facing tool and not a school or district, we design our platform to respect the sensitivity of educational records and handle them with the same care FERPA demands.
3. Your Documents Will Never Train AI
✓ Documents you upload to IEPScore! are used exclusively to provide the service to you. They are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model — inside or outside of this platform.
When you upload an IEP, evaluation report, or any other document, that file is processed in real time to generate the guidance you requested — and nothing more. We do not:
- Store your document contents in any AI training dataset
- Share your documents with AI model providers for training purposes
- Use your child's educational records to improve AI models for other users or products
- Sell, rent, or share your documents with any third party for commercial purposes
AI analysis is performed by sending document content through secure API calls to AI service providers solely for the purpose of generating a response for you. These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for model training under our usage agreements.
4. Information We Collect
4.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. This information is used to authenticate your account and communicate important updates about the service.
4.2 Child Profile Data
You may enter information about your child, including their name, school, grade, disability category, IEP dates, and case manager contact details. This information is stored securely and used only to power the features of the app on your behalf. We never share or sell this information.
4.3 Uploaded Documents
Documents you upload are stored in private file storage and are associated with your account. They are processed by AI only when you explicitly request an analysis (e.g., clicking "Analyze Report"). Document content is not retained by AI service providers after the analysis is complete.
4.4 Usage Data
We may collect non-identifying usage data such as feature interactions, page visits, and session information to improve the platform's performance and user experience. This data cannot be used to identify you or your child.
4.5 Payment Information
Subscription payments are handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide solely to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide the features and tools of IEPScore!
- Process AI document analyses when explicitly requested by you
- Send reminders and deadline notifications (if enabled)
- Respond to your support inquiries
- Improve platform performance and reliability
- Process your subscription and send billing receipts
6. We Do Not Sell Your Data
IEPScore! does not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information or your child's educational data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties for commercial purposes. Period.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us through the Contact page. Upon deletion, your personal information, child profiles, and uploaded documents will be permanently removed from our systems within a reasonable time, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.
8. Children's Privacy
IEPScore! is designed for use by parents and guardians of children with disabilities — not for use by children themselves. Our service is directed to adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The information you enter about your child is provided by you, as their parent or legal guardian, in connection with managing their educational records.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a notice to your registered email address. Your continued use of IEPScore! after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
